I studied Computer and Software Engineering in my native country, Romania before moving to the UK and finishing my studies at the University of West London, where I completed my Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. I joined Keytree in August 2017 and was instantly impressed by the level of technical support and guidance the Graduate Scheme provided, which made my transition into technology extremely smooth and put me at ease from the very start. During this time, I have worked with a broad range of technologies including Java, Kotlin, React, Angular and Spring to name a few, and right now I’m preparing for the AWS Associate Solutions Architect exam. The great thing about working at Keytree is the range of clients you get to work with as already I have worked as a frontend developer for Heineken, helping to create its distributor portal and also as a backend developer for Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), improving the online purchasing processes for its JLR Experience Days. Currently, I am working at the Greater London Authority as a full stack developer as a member of the Open Project System delivery team. By working on large projects, alongside experienced developers, I have quickly got to grips with new technology in rapid time. And my new level of understanding gleaned from working with senior developers and solution architects has also helped me make an informed decision on my career direction. I am proud of what I have achieved and it is amazing to know that thousands of users are benefiting from products that I helped to create.

I have been with Keytree for over two years, joining after I completed my Maths BSc at Durham University and although I developed a passion for coding my knowledge was limited but working at Keytree has allowed me to become a confident developer. I’ve had many highlights since joining Keytree but what stands out was my introduction – this gave me time to bond with the other graduates and also the confidence to be more comfortable when meeting people from around the company. Then after a couple of months, I was dropped into a client project, which made a huge difference as I got to work alongside and learn directly from talented professionals. You never feel alone or abandoned as staff go out of their way to offer support, making you feel part of the Keytree family. Whenever I felt that I was struggling, it was wonderful knowing that there were always people on hand to help me through. The social side of Keytree is great and as part of a very sociable team, working on a project for Jaguar Land Rover, I have developed a fantastic knowledge of the local restaurant meal deals! My advice to any new graduates is that if you feel out of your depth, the feeling will go very quickly if you are willing to ask for help as there is a wealth of experience to draw on from people who care.

I joined Keytree in October 2017 after completing my Maths BSc and Computer Science Conversion MSc at Bristol University. Following a series of incredibly useful induction sessions, I was introduced to key people in different areas of the business before joining an internal project, under the guidance of a senior architect. Like all graduates, I was paired with an experienced Keytree professional, who was always free to offer me advice and support – something I found extremely beneficial at the start. My first project was on-site at the Greater London Authority as part of the team delivering the Open Project System, a new digitised way to manage grant applications for organisations building new homes in London. I then moved to Jaguar Land Rover, which introduced me to Liferay technology and now I’m a member of the team working on a data migration project at Serco. As part of my continued progression, I will be sitting the AWS Associate Solutions Architect exam in January 2020 and the Java 11 exam in June 2020. My advice to all future graduates is not to be nervous and to ask questions if you don’t understand something. If you don’t understand it means it’s either a difficult concept or someone needs to add more detail to the explanation. Other than that embrace all of the many opportunities that are sure to be thrown at you.
